This year I signed up for Earth Camp, which is done by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

We started off with a Team building activity where we stood on a board and had to arrange ourselfs in order from least to greatest in our EcoFootprints we calculated earlier. We couldn’t talk or touch the ground and it was surprisingly easy.

We later went to Manzo Elementry School in Tucson and the school councilor there keeps gardens with things like corn.

So Pretty

They had egg laying chickens and, in the morning, they let the chickens run around the courtyards in the school.

They also had fish in a greenhouse with this really cool filter. The water goes from the pond to a flower bed and the plants get some water and nutrients and filter the water.

Then we drove up Mt. Lemmon and caught crayfish at Rose Canyon Lake. We caught over 200 crayfish!!! We cooked up the biggest ones and ate them for dinner. They were yummy!

The next day we did another team building activity. We had to cross an area with 6 felt pieces and 12 of us without touching the ground. Some of the councilors would take the pieces of felt if we left them unguarded. We ended up doing piggy back rides to get across.

We later went to the UA Sky School. We went out on a hike to find some good trees to do dendrochronology on. The tree my group chose was over 105 years old. We don’t know the exact age of the tree because we didn’t get to the center.

Look at all the tree cores we made!!!

We hiked to the top of the ridge and watched a beautiful sunset

Then we headed inside and looked through this telescope.

The next day we took a hike to the fire tower on Mt. Lemmon. What a view.
We drove down the mountain and went home. The next day was Bike Day.
