Finally we are ready, after a year or so of work, preparation and planning we are off!!!

Our first stop was at Balmorhea State Park, TX. We spent the night in the campground which was not spectacular, but the spring fed pool was amazing. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, it was well built. This picture does not do it justice because it is about 3 times as big and very deep. Complete with fish and a high dive, we wish that we could have stayed longer and had a swim.

Since we were in BBQ country we stopped at Cooper's BBQ and had some epic brisket.

On the second night we camped on South Padre Island, but to get over there we had to cross this amazing bridge.

On the way to the border we saw a shipyard with these oil rigs and the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk being dismantled.

Here comes the border. Goodbye US and Hello Mexico.
